    The Centre for Robotics & Intelligent Systems (CRIS) is Ireland’s only dedicated research centre specialising in the development and application of marine and aerial robotic technologies. Established in 2000 at the University of Limerick, CRIS brings together a multidisciplinary team of engineers, including postdoctoral researchers and PhD students from electronic, computer, mechanical, and aeronautical engineering backgrounds. The centre focuses on creating practical, industry-relevant solutions in both marine and aerial robotics. Its work spans a wide range of technologies, including marine platforms, navigation systems, sensor development, emergency response planning, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). CRIS has a strong track record of involvement in national and European research programmes, as well as direct collaborations with industry partners, driving innovation across a broad spectrum of robotics applications.
