From 21st to 23rd May 2025, the city of Cork, Ireland, will host the European Maritime Day (EMD) 2025, the European Union’s flagship annual event dedicated to maritime affairs. With over expected 1,000 participants, the event will offer a vibrant platform for connection, collaboration, and inspiration across the maritime community.
Organised by the European Commission, in partnership with Cork City Council and Ireland’s Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications, EMD 2025 will bring together professionals from businesses, governments, public institutions, NGOs, academia, and citizens interested in the future of the ocean.
The event will shine a spotlight on the diversity of Europe’s maritime sectors, helping to raise awareness of how vital the seas are to our everyday lives. The programme will feature keynote speeches from leading figures, interactive workshops, stakeholder sessions, exhibitions, and numerous networking opportunities.
A central feature of the event will be the ‘Ocean Leaders’ segment, which will bring together decision-makers and visionaries to share insights on the state of the blue economy and marine environment. The event will also include the third annual Blue Forum meeting, the Fisheries and Ocean Dialogue, which will promote open discussion on sustainable ocean governance.
AEROSUB, funded by Horizon Europe, will join the conversation by highlighting its work in robotics and autonomous technologies designed to support offshore wind operations in demanding marine environments. This contribution will emphasise the key role of innovation in promoting safe, efficient, and sustainable maritime practices.
