The IEEE International Conference on Advanced Robotics and Mechatronics (ICARM 2025) took place from 1 to 3 August 2025 in Portsmouth, UK. The event was the flagship conference of both the IEEE-SMC Technical Committee on Bio-Mechatronics and Bio-Robotics Systems and the IEEE-RAS Technical Committee on Neuro-Robotics Systems. Recognised as an official A-Class conference by the Chinese Association of Automation, ICARM 2025 provided a prestigious international forum where researchers, educators, and engineers in the fields of mechatronics, robotics, automation, and sensors shared their latest findings and exchanged perspectives on future research directions in these areas.

Dr. Mustafa Suphi Erden, representing Heriot-Watt University, presented scientific papers on behalf of AEROSUB, took part in expert debates, and engaged in specialised workshops. His contributions focused on the automation of mobile manipulator platforms for offshore wind applications, a field that combines robotics, renewable energy innovation, and autonomous marine operations in demanding environments.

Beyond the formal sessions, our partner also participated in networking activities that encouraged knowledge exchange and built connections with other leading researchers and organisations. These interactions enhanced the visibility of the AEROSUB project within the international robotics and automation community and underscored its relevance to the offshore renewable energy sector.

Through its presence at ICARM 2025, AEROSUB strengthened its role in shaping the conversation on sustainable, technology-driven solutions for the challenges of the future.
