The International Conference on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (ICUAS 2025) took place earlier this May, bringing together global experts, researchers, and industry leaders to share cutting-edge developments in unmanned aerial technologies. The event served as a key platform for showcasing innovations in UAV systems, autonomy, navigation, sensing, and field applications.

This year’s edition once again confirmed ICUAS as one of the most important annual gatherings in the field of aerial robotics. Participants explored a broad range of topics, from artificial intelligence and cooperative flight to safety, regulation, and emerging commercial applications.

Universidad de Sevilla, a project partner, made a significant impact at the conference. The university presented several research papers and hosted a well-received invited session on 16 May, titled “Advances in Aerial Robotics for Inspection and Maintenance: From Lab to Field Deployment.” This session focused on the transition of aerial robotic systems from experimental environments to real-world applications, particularly in infrastructure inspection and maintenance tasks. The session attracted strong interest from both academia and industry, offering practical insights into how emerging technologies are addressing operational challenges in complex and dynamic environments.

ICUAS 2025 successfully fostered knowledge exchange and international collaboration, reinforcing the crucial role of unmanned aircraft systems in sectors ranging from energy and transport to agriculture and public safety.
